  6. Auto-detects the system for exe-files and offers buttons and popmenu

  9. Reason for the Development
  10. It was developted as a program extension for RemoteKeys but can also
  11. be used as a stand-allone application.
  12. Start buttons are often needed but in this case, the user should
  13. have less of define work.

  16. Try AppBrowser together with TrayMan (of ToolsPackage). If the AppBrowser-
  17. Pop.exe is listed in TrayMan, you have a nice startmenu in the systray.

  37. What does Auto-detect meen?
  38. AppBrowser checks the start menu and the registry (not NT)
  39. for registered applications. It will not search the whole
  40. harddisk because there would be to many exe files which
  41. are not useful to be listed.
  42.  
  43. Generell the user should have success with doing nothing else,
  44. as to open i.e. the AppBrowserBut.exe or -Pop.exe and to be able
  45. to start a lot of application that are on his system.
  46. But - of course - the editor offers to adapt these buttons or
  47. popmenu entries to his own need.

  49. Open the editor and click the edit button to enlarge the
  50. interface:
  51. If one of the three exe files are opend first time, AppBrowser
  52. will auto-detect the system for available exe-files. The Refresh-
  53. button does the same. All what it founds is listed in the right
  54. list. All entries of this list which are checked are available
  55. in a button window or popmenu for the user and also listed in
  56. the right list.
  57. Check or uncheck entries in the right list to add or remove
  58. entries to/from the left list. You can control the result when
  59. you open the menu "Popup-Menu" or if you click on "buttons".

  61. The .dat-files are all ascii-formatted and can be edit with an
  62. editor if wanted.

  64. Alias: The auto-detected application names are sometimes not so
  65. pretty to be listed in the start buttons/popmenu. Alias allows
  66. to create own names which are shown.

  68. BPref: Preferences for Button window. Allows to fix the matrix
  69. and if the window should automatically closed after a button
  70. has been clicked.

  72. Filter: This allows to exclude applications for the auto-
  73. detection.

  75. FirstCall: All entries of this list will be auto-checked, if
  76. found when AppBrowser opens first time.

  78. User: Allows to add exe files to the list which are not found
  79. with the auto-detection. To add a file to the list, there is a 
  80. drop area: Open Explorer, drag a file and drop it to the image
  81. "Drop exe". This will add the file into the user.dat.
